Steps to becoming a stock broker

It's my dream to work as a stock broker or investment manager for a solid British company like Seymour Pierce, Hedley & Co or Rowan Dartington. So I've been trying to best prepare myself and came up with this how-to guide.

Choose studies wisely: Take Maths, Economics and Business courses.

Study the market: Make sure you know what's going on.

When you're ready, invest: Once you've studied the market, put a small starting fund together with parents or associates, and invest somewhere you know will succeed.

Go to college/university: There are many benefits to a university education in economics or finance. Take classes in sales and business management, perfect your people skills.

Get experience: Apply for a job or work experience with a brokerage. You can do this before you're qualified, and many brokerages will help you train and prepare for tests.

Take all the relevant industry exams: If your university doesn't offer it, do it externally.

Get a job: You'll train for around two years on the job with your company, and they'll assist you in developing your skills.
